After picking you up, with our car, at your lodging, we will start the Full Day Tour by visiting the Maritime Museum, in the Belém district.
Our expert certified Guide will tell you all about the foundation of Portugal, contextualizing the conquest of Ceuta as a kick off for the Portuguese maritime travels to East Asia and South America.
You will be able to see original charts, instruments of navigations, cannons, and even the figure head of one of the ships of Vasco da Gama Armada, that first arrived in India in 1498.
Miniature boats, uniforms, artifacts for far lands, all with a good background provided by your Guide.
You will also be able to enjoy a collection of impressive Royal Yatches and to find out about the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic.
We then proceed for a tasting of our famous "Pastel de Nata" , a custard cream pie, accompanied of a complementary drink of your choice.
We follow to visit the Royal Horse carriages at the Museum founded by ou Queen Amelia in 1905.
An unique collection in the world, with nearly 100 carriages, on display in a building made for that purpose.
From the oldest carriage (15th Century) to the 19th century there is a lot of History to be told, and again your Guide will delight you with all the details.
The origin of the word "coche" (horse carriage in Portuguese), the diferent types and who could ride them; how they evolved, the "tronqueiros" and the "cocheiros"; the embassy to Rome by our King John V, with 15 horse carriages...
You will be amazed at the amount of beauty and history gathered here.
Following our visit we then proceed to enjoy a typical Portuguese lunch at a local Restaurant. We can accomodate most of the specific needs and tastes you might have.
After a delicious meal we will visit the only Palace in Portugal that has been inhabited by kings from the first day it was built, untill the end of Monarchy in 1910.
It was then closed, and very soon turned into a national monument, so the inside was not touched, and its just the way it was on the last day it was a Royal palace.
Ear all the details about the last days of monarchy, and visit also the Museum of the Royal Treasure, where you will be able to appreciate some of the most precious jewels that the crown had.
In the end of the day our car will drop you at any point of your choice within Lisbon.
